What makes Type 21 collagen different?
There are 28 types of collagen in the human body. Most are structural, like Type 1 and 3, the most abundant, forming the physical framework of skin. Type 21 works differently: it’s a signaling type that helps organize the extracellular matrix. It’s rare enough that animal-derived collagen, a mix of whatever types happen to be present, only ever contains trace amounts of it at best. Biodesign is really the only practical way to access Type 21 at a usable concentration, which is part of what makes it a valuable building block for formulations designed to support the appearance of healthy, resilient-looking skin.

HumaColl™21’s structure is not shear- or temperature-sensitive, and it can be used over a wide pH range, which means it can be incorporated at different points in most conventional formulation processes. Talk to your sales representative for more detailed formulation recommendations.
HumaColl™21 is a polypeptide consisting of a chain of amino acids matching the sequence of a specific region of human Type XXI collagen. Select is the peptide version of it, comprising shorter chains engineered to be more readily available and promote an enhanced response at the same use rate.
